Crunchy cookies: Easy and economical recipe
Chocolate chip croquets
I learned this recipe -
originally - from my mom. "Crunchies" named in French "Les
Croquets", are good cookies, known in Algeria, not very sweet and
economical, to make quickly and simply.
These “crunchies cookies” can
be simply flavored (with a vanilla flavor, lemon zest, etc.), raisins or any
other dried fruit, or chocolate chips, like the following
recipe:
Recipe:
Ø Ingredients:
· 3 eggs ;
· 100g of sugar;
· Vanilla ;
· 1 pinch of salt ;
· 1 packet of yeast;
· 100 ml of oil;
· 100g of chocolate chips (which
can be replaced by raisins or other dried fruit) ;
· 400g of flour.
· 1 egg yolk for brushing.
Ø Preparation:
1. Turn on the oven at 180 °;
2. In a bowl / salad bowl - or in the kneading bowl - put
the flour, sugar, chocolate chips, baking powder and vanilla: mix everything
together;
3. Add the eggs and oil: assemble everything by hand or
with “the leaf for those who use the kneader to have nice dough;
4. Line your tray with baking paper, or flour it;
5. Form rolls (as shown in the photo below) 3 cm long,
and according to the width of your tray: flatten them slightly;
6. Brush these “sausages” with egg yolk - mixed with a
little black coffee - then, with a fork, “scrape” the surface to get nice
lines;
7. Bake for 20 minutes: the top must take on a golden
color;
8. Take the tray out of the oven, while leaving the oven
on (but closed);
9. Wait 5 minutes, and then cut your “cookies” 1.5 to 2
cm wide: place them on the “white” side;
10. Bake for 10 minutes, and then turn the "croquets"
on the other side: cook - again - 10 minutes;
11. Take out of the oven: you will have golden brown “crunchies”
on each side: let cool.
12. Store in an airtight box, in a dry place (in a
cupboard, for example).
These “chocolate chip croquets”
can be enjoyed very well soaked in tea, coffee with milk or in a cup of
chocolate milk, during breakfast or as a snack...
Nothing is like “homemade”, so
let's pamper our darlings… And enjoy your meal.
